Money and Stereotypes

I heard a saying that says"money makes the world go round"....literally not so true but when you think of our economy its right on. All my life iv dreamed of my mom wining the lottery so she could be happier....as i child that seems like a qiuck fix...but as you get older you realize that for something like that to happen is "1 in a mill". Money is so important in todays society that people sometimes look past the content of someones thoughts and feelings if they don't look like they have any money or look "dirty". its not right to treat someone like shit just because they miht not have as much money as you...i look at they way some people treat otheres who don't have as much as their family and its not acceptable in my eyes...no im not rich or poor ...but i just don't think that money makes someone better or worse then someone else but it is the content of their character that should rank someone in society.

I pass a homeless man at the end of my exit 3 or 4 times a week. He is filthy, skinny, and clearly struggling. His sign says he's a vet. I watch people blow by him regularly as if he were invisible. Or untouchable. I try to keep some change in my door pocket so I can give him a dollar or two. If I can't do that, I at least smile and say hello as I go by and wish him good luck. I want him to know that he is not invisible in my book. It's getting to the point of being a ritual and although we don't know each other, he now feels like my neighbor.

I think that those who can turn a blind eye to the homeless are those who blame them for their circumstances. "They should just get a job and stop asking for handouts."

For me, though, when I see people like my neighbor on the corner, I see -- potentially-- me, my husband, our families. In this economy, as you point out, it takes very little to lose everything. A job loss. In a little over your head on your mortgage or your rent nugget. A medical problem and poor health coverage.

Right now, my family is struggling financially for all three of these reasons. But we still have more than our neighbor on the corner.

If we don't try to take care of each other, what's the point?

Wow this is a nice piece of writing and you are right on point about this topic that people shouldn't be judgement towards others either about how there family economic standings. I mean i thinks its the same princable that only royal familys could be married to another royal family. Like the prince of britain does he have to go off any marry a girl that has the same status or money as the prince. he should beable to do as hwe please but in some sense people are blinded by money. "Money make the world go around" it does but money doesnt represent that person its that charater that makes them who they are.
